Welcome to our Aboriginal Literacy Symposium 2011 website!

Full World Café Presenter List now available!

As you can see, the countdown to the gathering is fast approaching and we’ve been working to ensure that planning and preparations flow along smoothly. You will find our <Registration form here> if you wish to attend as a participant. If you have a business or an organization, check out our <Sponsorship package here> to find out how you can become a sponsor or how to obtain a booth space.

The purpose of this important Symposium can be outlined in three main objectives:

  1. To initiate focused dialogue and information sharing on Aboriginal literacy issues,
  2. To establish a network of individuals and organizations committed to addressing Aboriginal literacy, and
  3. To begin the process of developing a shared vision and an action plan for improving Aboriginal literacy.

There has been a tremendous amount of energy and background work that has gone into the initiation and planning of this event. The Literacy Partners of Manitoba is proud to host the Symposium and to work in cooperation with a Core Group of committed individuals from the Aboriginal community, comprised of Aboriginal community members, which form our Symposium Planning Team. The Planning team has been working diligently on the planning and coordinating activities to ensure the Symposium will be the successful launch pad for building “New Relationships & New Opportunities”.

We are excited about having our prominent guest speakers join us and we are planning an interactive agenda that will generate creative dialogue and action in addressing Aboriginal literacy issues.

For those of you requiring a bit more background information, please <click here>. We held two Roundtable sessions in the community and these events provided the impetus for us to establish the work towards the Symposium.  Copies of the Roundtable sessions are available for download <here>.

Thank you for visiting and please contact us if you have any questions or suggestions!
